The 6-Cause Restoration Method™

We assess first. Then we restore.

Hair changes rarely look the same from one person to the next. The 6-Cause Restoration Method™ begins by looking at your visible density pattern, hair history, current support areas, goals, and six common hair-change contexts that may be relevant to cosmetic planning. The right restoration depends on what your natural hair can safely support today.

A Different Approach

Most stylists approach thinning, shedding, or hair changes as a single problem with a single solution, typically more extensions, more product, more volume. The Method takes a different approach.

Together, we look at six common hair-change contexts that can shape cosmetic restoration planning. Each can affect visible density, available support, coverage needs, and timing differently. The approach that works beautifully for one pattern may be completely wrong for another, which is why consultation comes first, always.

For some clients, the goal is temporary cosmetic support while their medical provider monitors expected hair recovery. For others, the priority is protecting the healthy hair that remains and creating beautiful coverage. Part of The Discovery is understanding what your hair looks like today and what kind of cosmetic support makes sense.

We assess first. Then we restore.

Six Hair-Change Contexts

Six Contexts That Can Shape Restoration Planning

These are six common hair-change contexts I see in restoration clients. They are not diagnoses. During The Discovery, I review your visible density pattern, hair history, current support areas, goals, and any information you choose to share from your medical providers so we can determine what should be considered in your cosmetic restoration plan.

01

GLP-1 & Medication

Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, rapid weight loss, thyroid medication, and certain prescriptions.

Cosmetic planningDuring significant active shedding, an installed system may not be the right move yet. When the hair is stable enough for restoration, I choose lightweight, low-tension options based on the density and support your natural hair can safely provide.

02

Hormonal Transitions

Perimenopause, menopause, postpartum, PMOS (often still referred to as PCOS), thyroid imbalance, and oral contraceptive changes.

Cosmetic planningThe approach depends on where the density has changed and what your natural hair can safely support. A custom topper may be appropriate when coverage is needed through the crown or part, while extensions may be considered when the main goal is restoring fullness through healthy, stable hair.

03

Genetics & Pattern Hair Loss

Female pattern hair loss, hereditary thinning, and genetic density patterns that follow a predictable progression.

Cosmetic planningA custom hair topper may be used when coverage is needed through the crown or part. If more structural support is needed, Mesh Integration begins with breathable mesh laid over the appropriate area; the natural hair is fed through the mesh and secured with beads before the topper is sewn onto the completed foundation. When the natural hair is structurally strong enough, Meshless Integration may use a customized beaded-only foundation. Extensions may be appropriate when the remaining hair can safely support them.

04

Autoimmune Hair Conditions

Alopecia areata, frontal fibrosing alopecia, lichen planopilaris, CCCA, and other immune-driven hair loss conditions.

Cosmetic planningMedical diagnosis and treatment belong with your dermatologist. On the cosmetic side, I plan coverage around the visible hair changes, comfort, and the strength and location of the natural hair available for support. That may include a custom hair topper supported with either a mesh-and-beaded foundation or a beaded-only meshless foundation, depending on what your hair can safely support.

This cosmetic work can complement your dermatologist's care, never replace it.

05

Trichotillomania Recovery

Active or recent hair-pulling, even mild, even years past.

Cosmetic planningWhen restoration is appropriate, I choose coverage that avoids relying on fragile or actively affected areas for support. The studio is a private, judgment-free space, and the plan is built around the hair you have today.

06

Mechanical & Chemical Damage

Bleach, over-coloring, traction from tight styles, heat damage, and prior extension wear.

Cosmetic planningThe first priority is protecting compromised hair from additional stress. Depending on the location and severity of the damage, the plan may involve waiting, changing the service approach, carefully selected extensions, or a custom topper when targeted coverage is needed.

What Restoration Looks Like

Hair changes can call for very different cosmetic goals. During The Discovery, we look at what is happening visibly, what your medical providers have already identified when relevant, and what your natural hair can safely support so your roadmap is honest from the very first day.

Support During Expected Recovery

When your medical provider expects hair recovery, the cosmetic goal is to protect the hair you have and create visual fullness during that period. Depending on your density and current shedding, that may mean a custom hair topper, carefully selected extensions, a lighter temporary approach, or waiting until the hair is stable enough to support an installed system.

Support Existing Density

When density is gradually changing, as can happen with genetic or pattern hair loss, my role is cosmetic: protect the natural hair available for support and create the most natural-looking density possible. Medical treatment or questions about slowing progression belong with your physician or dermatologist.

Protect & Cover

When an area needs coverage that natural hair alone cannot provide, restoration shifts toward protecting the healthy hair that remains and creating beautiful, natural-looking coverage. This is especially important when a medical or scarring condition may be involved, because anything active should be evaluated and managed by a dermatologist.

Why Consultation Comes First

Methods are tools, not the starting point

Custom hair toppers and hair extensions are the primary restoration solutions. Hair toppers create targeted coverage, while extensions add length and fullness through existing hair. When a topper is selected, it is sewn onto the foundation your natural hair can safely support. With Mesh Integration, breathable mesh is laid first, the natural hair is fed through the mesh and secured with beads, and the topper is sewn onto that completed foundation. With Meshless Integration, the topper is sewn onto a customized beaded-only foundation when the hair is structurally strong enough. The topper itself may use lace, HD lace, or another appropriate base construction.

That is why every restoration begins with The Discovery, never with a method chosen in advance.
